Day 4 - Pregame/Endgame

I woke up this morning with this word in my head. Tailgating! Something I never actually did as a student is really the main activity during Homecoming. Football being what it is at Tufts, a mockery of the sport, I never really cared about the “big game.” And I still don’t. I have no idea who they played or what the score was. But I do know that free donuts and sandwiches were being doled out behind the field. Now that’s a touchdown if I ever saw one and apparently I never have if that’s what I think. I did the rounds, didn’t see too many people I knew, much less that I liked.

So I went to see what was crackin’ at ATO again. Nothing was crackin’ per se, but bubbly was flowin’ freely, and I helped myself to a bottle of the finest Andre money can buy. After that, I headed to Harvard Square to meet up with my good friend Jon, whom I lived with junior year. While I was waiting for him to get out of class, I sat down near the T exit. I made eye contact with a strange looking girl, and she started talking to me. As it turns out, you can get a doctorate in Portuguese Studies at UMass Dartmouth. Go figure. Finally Jon showed up so we grabbed some lunch, toured the old neighborhood and chilled at his place. Then I went back to Anna’s Taqueria, of which I can’t seem to ever have enough of, to meet Al. As usual it didn’t disappoint.

As we were leaving we saw a commotion across the street. Someone got hit by a car! Man, would it suck to be her. A crowd was rapidly forming, as was traffic, and you don’t want to be around a traffic jam in Boston. We made our way back to campus, and saw a fire engine rush to the scene. I guess the woman had burst into flames shortly after we left. Wish I could have seen that.

Next on the agenda was checking out the parties. It was still early, but that’s what pregaming is for. We stopped off at Al’s friend’s house and some other places before settling down at 45 Mason Street. I met up with my friends Dan and Eric, played some foosball and Beirut, and had a merry good time. It started dying down there so we moved to Sigma Nu where a concert in the basement was just breaking up. Angered by the turn of events, we stole pint of Ben and Jerry’s from the freezer as retribution. We split it back at Al’s and passed out.

And with that my vacation came to a close, because the next day consisted of a boring, sleepless trip back on the bus.
