I like to be up on the newest technology, even if it’s just a twinkle in some lonely inventor’s eye. But most gadgets are pretty frivolous. They’re way too expensive and impractical. They usually sound cool at first, but then the novelty wears off and you have an expensive paperweight that isn’t even used as one. How windy does your office get, anyway?
That’s where Life Hacker comes in. It’s chock full of tips and tricks to speed up your web browser or your compy, get rid of spyware, download files faster, and how to donate your old cell phones.
It is conspicuously sponsored by Sony, though. The word Sony appears prominently in the logo (which looks like the chick from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), and even under each date. I guess Gawker Media finally sold out. Nick Denton must be rolling around in his grave.
Anyway, the site’s been officially live since Monday, but their archives contain posts from more than a week ago. I’m sure they’ve got more cool stuff lined up.

You guess Gawker media sold out? Nick Denton is certainly not rolling around in his grave, all he ever talks about his “blog empire,” which I would gladly slit some throats to be a part of.
