Last summer, in one of my earilest posts, I talked about how I cashed in a jug of change for a cool $318.38. Now gas station attendant Edmond Knowles one ups me by cashing in his roughly 1.4 million pennies for $13,804.59. Granted, he didn’t use a jug, he used 7 oil drums. And I only saved for 2 years, whereas he saved for 38 (How’s that for delayed gratification?). But I still can’t help but feel outdone.
I wonder what he’ll do now, since his life’s work is obviously complete. Live out his days at the gas station, sipping on lemonade and eating beef jerky. Maybe he’ll piss away his 13 thou at the track. Either way, it’s all down hill for him from here.
