My new new favorite site is upcoming.org. Social bookmarking sites are all the rage these days, and this one could be really big.
Upcoming.org solves a problem that Pollstar, fascist dictatorshipTicketmaster, and just about every other event listing site have, and that’s lack of RSS support. If I want to keep up to date on shows at Irving Plaza, or Bowery Ballroom, or the next time Ted Leo comes to town (last night) I’d have to check multiple sites on a regular basis. Very easy to forget to do. Now I can just add an RSS feed for any of those things, and when it’s updated, I’ll know right away.
Joining is easy. You can then quickly associate yourself with your metro area(s) and favorite venues. Tags let you categorize events, and see how others already have. You can also see who else is planning on attending. It’s a good way to get the word out on an event you’re sponsoring yourself, too.
Adding your friends doesn’t seem to useful because I shouldn’t have to find out via a website what events my friends are attending. And if I do, then I need some new friends. But everybody loves having “friends” on the internet, so sign up and add me!

Your comment box seems to quite strict, as it refuses to post my previous commentary due to its apparently “questionable” content. Anyway, Im interested in your abcess theory, and would very much like to hear more about it, disgusting thought it may be. If you could email me in the near future, I’d right appreciate it.
