TOKYO, JAPAN - Sharp has developed a Dual View LCD screen. This new advancement will let families ignore each other, but still watch the same screen.
“Take a typical family where the mother likes to watch dramas and the father likes to watch baseball or soccer. Now they can watch them together on the same screen,” Mikio Katayama, head of Sharp’s LCD business, told a news conference.
Apparently it was inspired by fake watch party favors given to 5-year olds, which only display two different times as you view it from different angles. Conceivably this new technology could lead to watches that actually display two differnt times simultaneously, one for you and one fora friend.
It is still unconfirmed if Sharp will also develop a convenient method of dividing a room in half using just a piece of tape or line of paint a la I Love Lucy.
