Movies I’ve Seen On a Greyhound Bus
- Arlington Road
- Miss Congeniality
- Music of the Heart
- My Fellow Americans
- Mystery, Alaska
- Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
With the exception of Arlington Road, I have never been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the movie. In fact, I’ve had my worst fears confirmed, that these are grade F box office bombs that exist in obscurity and the overhead compartment of a Greyhound Bus.
The TV on the bus really does no one any favors. Unlike airplanes which now let you choose what to watch, buses force PG-13 crap in your eyes and ears, which the driver vehemently refuses to turn down. And with seats that have the ergonomics of a wooden crate upholstered with burlap, you’re in for a bumpy ride indeed. You’re better off staying up all night, and taking the bus at 5 AM so you’ll just pass out and think the horrendous accommodations were just a nightmare brought on by self-imposed sleep deprivation.

where are you taking all these greyhounds?? Amtrak is the shit…well not really
You’ve obviously never taken a bus to Boston where “Bounce” with Gwenneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck was rammed down your retinas. Oh god I can still feel it now.
um,
Autumn in New York,
the always awful Richard Gere (gier? gear? geer? jeer.) paired up with the more often awful than not so awful Winona Rider,
made a painful Boston to New York a little more gag inducing than usual for me once too.
I think the premise was, she had cancer, he didn’t know, and you as the audience wish you could die and end it sooner.
