Few things are as “funny” as poor use of “quotation marks.” Why is this such a problem? Isn’t it universally understood that quotes make a word suspicious? The addition of quotation marks effectively negates the meaning of the word! “New” means “old”, “no” means “yes”, “nice” means “lousy”, and “please” means “go fuck yourself.”
I’d like to blame it on immigrants’ poor grasp of the English language, but native speakers make them same goddam mistakes. Here, I’ll make it easy for all of you.
Use bold, italics, or underline for emphasis! Not “quotes.”
