Since I’ve been doing this web sites and others I’ve come to resent Internet Explorer. All the cool stuff that’s actually improved the web, CSS for one, Java for another, have been snubbed and tweaked into propietary versions by Microsoft. CSS let’s you design a web page with out using tables so you don’t have to worry about making everything fit into a grid. IE doesn’t interpret the CSS standards properly, though, and this means pages designed specifically for it won’t show up correctly on other browsers. Dirty trick right there. So when my friend Jer told me about Firefox, I had to see what the fuss was about. It’s a solid browser with some great plug-ins to boot. Plus its logo looks like Sonic the Hedgehog’s friend Knuckles. It has also recently taken over 4 percent of IE’s 96% market share which is still small, but that’s only in the last 6 months. So from now on, I’ll be pulling for Firefox, and all it’s open source brethren.
